About Me

Doug Machovic was among the first students to attend  BMCC when it opened its doors in 1964.  He and his classmates became the first BMCC graduating class of 1966.  Born and raised in the Bronx, Doug remained at BMCC as a College Laboratory Assistant (CLT) after graduation, while taking night classes at the City College of NY.  He completed his goal of achieving both his Bachelors and Masters in Education from CUNY, while continuing at BMCC as a CLT and teaching classes at night in Health and Physical Education.

 In the 70's Doug took a position at ITT World Communications and by 1980, when ITT  merged with Western Union,  Doug moved from Sales Account Manager to Major Account Executive.  He held various management positions as Director, New Business Development and Director of Training, Customer Support and Employee Development .  His most recent management position was at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service before returning to BMCC as an Adjunct Professor in Health Ed in 2008.   He has been married to his wife, Dorothy, for 33 years and has 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.   

Doug serves BMCC in many ways, including his work as an Adjunct , and conducting management seminars for the Center for Career Development.  As an alum he co-chaired the first BMCC 1960's Reunion in 2006, and has recently been “re-connecting ” with some BMCC classmates from the first graduating class in preparation for a spring 2011 Reunion he is helping to coordinate.
